Connie belongs to the Rotary Club of Dunsmuir, District 5160, classification Secondary Education – (Retired)
Connie Crawford is a passionate Rotarian and retired educator who lives in the small, rural mountain community of Dunsmuir in far northern California. She joined the Rotary Club of Dunsmuir in 1994 and became club president in 1998. That year her club tied for District 5160 Outstanding Small Club, living up to their motto, “We may be small, but we do it all.”
Rotary District highlights for Connie include serving as the District Youth Exchange Chair, Assistant Governor, and Membership Director. She recalls particularly heartwarming experiences while working at a medical clinic in Costa Rica and raising money that she took to Mexico City to be used to purchase equipment for a hospital. The trip to Mexico City and the subsequent hospital project were the direct result of a GSE Team Leader stealing her Club’s bell and the Club’s heart. Connie traveled to Mexico City to retrieve the bell, resulting in the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
Connie is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Foundation Benefactor.

Mike and his wife Nancy have been married 33 years. They met in San Diego County in 1967 while attending college after Mike was discharged from the Army. They have two children Nickie (30) and Michael (27). Both kids are graduates of the University of California and have real jobs! Son Mike is in Dallas, TX working for the JC Penney’s Corp. while daughter Nickie (a charter member of the Tulare Sunrise Rotary Club) owns two Quiznos restaurants and just presented Mike and Nancy with their first grandchild “Jacob”. Nancy is also a member of the Fairfield-Suisun Rotary Club. Mike and Nancy are busy with their new role as Grandparents and are now planting a vineyard at their home in Suisun Valley.
Rotary is a way of life with the Garvers. Mike’s Dad is a former Rotarian. At age 85 (with his memory slipping) he still takes pride telling you how he became “Rotarian of the Year” in 1957.
