DG 2003-2004 Norman Owen

Norm is the Chair of the California Governor’s Committee for the Employment of Disabled Persons.  Has served on the Disabled Youth Leadership Forum (a state wide youth leadership forum for high school, juniors and seniors with disabilities).  He has also served on Rotary’s Support our Students, the President’s Council, the Concourse de Elegance, and many other Rotary committees.

Chair of National Barrier Awareness Day, Washington, DC in 1992, a collaborative effort of the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa, the National Barrier Awareness Foundation, the California Department of Employment Development and Disability Services and Phi Alpha Law Fraternity International (wrote, directed, edited, and produced a 19 minute video of Washington, DC program events of dissemination to Rotary Clubs and to 174 Law Schools and 120 pre-law clubs in undergraduate schools across the US.

Norm is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow (four sapphires) a Rotary Foundation Benefactor and a Bequest Society Member.  He is also the founder of the Santa Rosa Rotary Club Foundation.

Beverly is an award winning artist and photographer and Norm enjoys photography, wood carving, and masonry work around the house.

Born in 1938 and married for 43 years, Norm and Veb live on a quiet country style cul-de-sac in Santa Rosa Sonoma County, California in the southern end of District 5130 which stretches from Petaluma on the south to Crescent City on the North through six counties along the northern California Coast. 

Bev is a legal Assistant/Bookkeeper.  Norm is an attorney.  The legal practice encompasses transactional real estate, business and estate planning.  He has been a civil litigator in these areas of the law for thirty years.  He is licensed to practice in California, Hawaii and Ohio.

A member of the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa for 25 years, he served as President in 96-97.  He has been involved in The Rotary Foundation for many years, presenting programs and chairing District Foundation events.  He has received the Club Rotarian of the Year, International Four Avenues of Service Citation, District Foundation Services Award, and Club Harold Bostock Lifetime of Service Award.
