Rochester Poets was founded in 1922 as the Rochester chapter of the Poetry Society of America. It is the oldest ongoing poetry and literary organization in the upstate New York region.

Rob joined the Rotary Club of Burlington in 1982 and served as president in 1995-96. Prior to serving as President, he held several committee positions, including Foundation Chair, Newsletter Editor and Club Service Chair. Rob has proudly served as an Assistant Governor for the seven clubs in Area F of District 5050 and as a presenter for the District Assembly, and P.E.R.L.s programs. Joan serves as executive director for SPARC, an early learning and therapy program for young children and families. She is a member and Past President for the Rotary Club of Mount Vernon and served as District 5050 Secretary in 2000-01. Rob and Joan are very proud of their two grown sons Chris and Bob, as well as Bob’s lovely wife, Kimi.

Rob grew up in North Seattle, Washington, where his father was a civil engineer for the City. Rob serves as the executive director for Chinook Enterprises, a non profit organization he founded in 1980, that develops, or directly provides jobs for disadvantaged and disabled adults in Northwest Washington State. He also serves as a surveyor for CARF, an international accreditation association for rehabilitation organizations in North America. Rob is especially interested in quality improvement techniques for small business, and has been active in researching and developing methods to improve quality and efficiency in vocational rehabilitation services. Rob also is an adjunct faculty member of Skagit Valley College where he has taught for several years. In 1969, Rob met his wife Joan and they were married in 1973. Two months after they were married they moved to Samish Island, Washington where they continue to reside. Both Rob and Joan are Paul Harris Fellows, and members of the Bequest Society of the Rotary Foundation.
