within urban apartments, their days and nights
are inhabited by horrific ghosts, unfold to the
rhythm of an inner chaos. Life itself has become
a terrifying, impossible burden.

This building was located at 211 Brock Street South (on the east side of Brock Street, south of the municipal building at Colborne Street). The Gem Theatre was the first movie theatre in Whitby. It stayed open for only one year. In the picture from left to right are: H. Pomeroy, R.S. McQuaid and Cecil Greenfield.
